I've been obsessed with art my whole life, but when I started painting outdoors in 2019, it changed everything. I found a renewed passion for oil painting, and for seven years now, plein air has been my focus.
Standing in nature and trying to capture what's in front of me on canvas is one of the hardest things I've done as an artist. To make it a bit easier on myself, I reduced the variables and moved to a simplified palette: ultramarine, alizarin crimson, cadmium yellow, and titanium white.
The plein air paintings are done on location. They are the foundation for the studio work.
